What is #GivingTuesday?
#GivingTuesday is the charitable answer to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday retail shopping days. it is a worldwide movement to encourage giving and celebrate generosity. This year it falls on November 30.
Donate to the SCVets Care Foundation on #GivingTuesday and help save pets. The SCVets Care Foundation was created to carry on with several charitable and educational objectives of the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians (SCAV) with the ultimate goal of promoting animal welfare and the human- animal-veterinary bond in South Carolina.
The SCVets Care Foundation raises funds for the following:
• Pet Vets for Seniors Program: provides low or no cost pet care to qualifying senior citizens. Regular vaccinations and check-ups are offered through this program.
• The South Carolina Veterinary Reserve Corps (SCVRC) is a unit of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) that develops, trains, and deploys volunteers to assist with animals in need when natural and man-made emergencies occur.
• Scholarships to three universities and three technical colleges for South Carolina students who apply to those institutions. Annually, SCAV awards scholarships to veterinary students at UGA, Tuskegee, and Mississippi State and scholarships for veterinary technicians to Piedmont Technical College, Trident Technical College, and Tri-county Technical College.
