Enriching the Animal – Human Bond

The SCVets Care Foundation has partnered with the South Carolina Lieutenant Governor's Office on Aging (LGOA) to provide low or no cost pet care to qualifying senior citizens receiving services through this office. Pet Vets for Seniors Program has identified more than 5,000 seniors from across the state who need assistance with healthcare for their pets.

Many of the seniors identified by the LGOA consider their companion animals their family. They cannot afford to vaccinate or obtain basic annual care that is necessary in South Carolina's tropic-like weather. Ideally, regular vaccinations and check-ups will be offered through the program. Furthermore, transportation throughout the state is a barrier, as most of the state is rural and many senior citizens needing veterinarian services are homebound and unable to drive.

Through the generosity of South Carolina veterinarians, SCVets Care has stepped up to provide vaccinations, spay and neuter services, diagnostic services and much more to senior citizen pets.
